In Pitta season, it’s best to eat light, sweet, and cooling foods to prevent overheating the body and mind. This strawberry rose smoothie is my favorite summertime breakfast, because it’s freaking delicious and heals the heart.
Rose is a heart opening herb that is wonderful for healing and soothing the heart. In Ayurveda, it is primarily used to heal grief, anger, and nervousness within the heart. In addition, it can help balance hormones, increase restful sleep, cool the gastrointestinal tract, and give you clear, glowing skin.
Spirulina is a superfood that is high in protein, antioxidants, and chlorophyll. This powerful cleansing algae boosts the immune system, increases energy, and supports cell repair. It’s been shown to help preserve health of the cardiovascular system and decrease the risk of heart disease by balancing LDL and HDL cholesterol levels.
Strawberries are sweet, hydrating, cooling, and known to help moisturize the tissues of the body for more juiciness and radiance. Strawberries soothe irritation and inflammation in the stomach, liver, and kidneys. Best of all, they are said to be grounding and revitalizing for the heart and nervous system.
